How do you defeat cancer?
Dr. Richard Beliveau, Director of the Molecular Medicine Laboratory of Montreal
“Too many people unfortunately talk about things they don’t know in the medical field. We have been developing medicines for cancer for 30 years for the largest pharmaceutical companies. Ours is one of the most important cancer banks in North America. Cancer does not strike suddenly at 60, 65 or 70 years of age. The first mutated cell that can lead to cancer appears when we are 15, 16 or 17 years old, and it takes decades for cancer to develop clinically. Currently it is estimated that about 70% of cancer deaths could be avoided SIMPLICELY by CHANGEING THE STYLE OF LIFE. With a vegetable-based diet, we have had extraordinary results on mice: 90% reduction in tumor masses. There are compounds that have been shown to have anti tumor properties. For example, Savoy cabbage, cauliflower, Brussels cabbage, broccoli, garlic and onion, blueberries, strawberries, raspberries or some spices such as ginger and turmeric, possess the most powerful anti-inflammatory plant molecules ever found in nature. When people say there is no evidence, they simply do not know what they are talking about. I will give you an example to make you understand how the lifestyle is linked to the incidence of tumors: in Japan the western way of life arrived in the 80s, and at the time the incidence of colorectal cancer was among the lowest in the world. In 2005, LN came in first place.
The way we live influences the way we die.”
Dr. Servan Schreiber, neurosurgeon author of the text “Anti-cancerous daily gestures for the health of body and spirit”
“When my book came out I was mocked and insulted by doctors for recommending anti tumor foods such as raspberry. They gave me an impostor for suggesting that changes in diet could have an impact on the development of cancer. In my opinion, the really revolutionary thing is that such trivial things can have a real impact on this disease… and let’s not talk about it! Is it a banality or is this something revolutionary? Tell me.”
Healthy nutrition, stress management, exercise: is this a recipe for cancer?
So why do we not invest more in prevention? In Italy, less than 10% of health expenditure is used for prevention. In the United States, out of an annual expenditure of 3 billion dollars, only 3% is spent on prevention.
The challenge to the tobacco industry was incredible, now it is up to the meat industry and then who knows. Do you know how Philip Morris reacted once the challenge to defend cigarettes had failed? They bought Kraft and other food companies… just advertise cigarettes, advertise junk food! But it doesn’t end there: everyone knows what hurts. The industries that lied 50 years about sugar know this, as does the government, which does business with the food industries. Waiting for the miracle drug against cancer is smoke in the eyes, it will never arrive. They can only be a series of integrated things to solve it!
If we accept that we are part of the problem, why do we not also accept that we are part of the solution?
The point is that it depends on us, is it easier to take the right pills?
